Apparently its call “Wagon Wheel” There are no signs and barely any services but a very legitimate free campsite for up to 14 days. There is an porta-potty in the summer months and several spots for car camping or pitching a tent. What makes this spot truly amazing is the giant bolders down at the river. The town of Index is known for incredible river views and this location proves the point. If you are a hard core rock climber then you already know this spot as its a very popular parking lot in the summer months for those that scale the cliffs above Index. Pretty close to town, just head down Avenue a short distance towards Reiter road and its right there on the left.
